Process Consultancy Services

The importance of implementing viable and pragmatic processes and procedures to IT Production cannot be under-stated. Over the last few years, significant work has been done on ITIL Service Management, particularly by Software Vendors.

We have a pragmatic approach to deploying Process and Procedure within IT Production, based on many years of real-world experience in working alongside IT Production Managers.

Examples of Process-based Consultancy Services

  • Implementing pragmatic ITIL processes and procedures, using ITIL as genuine framework, to guide in the creation of "in-house" processes for support of IT Systems.
  • Establishing an IT Production Architecture team, with the remit of defining a target architecture, so that all future development would be based on a commonly understood base, leading to economies of scale and reduced cost of support.
  • Defining operational supportability criteria and processes for assessing and reviewing proposed technologies at Development stage, to identify the operational risks associated with the proposed new application.
  • Created Processes within IT Production for interfacing with the IT Development projects at Project Initiation phase, to identify and pre-empt any IT Production technical risks before they became real issues. This had the effect of building bridges between the IT Development and IT Production teams.
  • Metrics, Operational Tools, Processes, Procedures and Standards Auditing (see MOPS Services) used to identify the gaps in Processes and Procedures in order to establish and ongoing IT Production Strategy.
  • A Financial Services company was in the process of deploying IBM Rational Unified Process and Iterative Development. The Infrastructure team needed to define the processes for linking Iterative development processes with the existing processes for Infrastructure deployment and delivery.
  • The Infrastructure division of a Finance Company was attempting to re-define itself as an "Insourcer", effectively making the transition from a Cost-Centre to a Profit-Centre. In the initial phases of this transition, it was necessary to implement a "Client-Facing" culture. This involved significant changes to the culture, and corresponding rollout of new Procedures and Procedures.
